The Oak Room has been awarded three Red Rosettes  for culinary excellence by the AA. Within their 2008 Restaurant Guide they highlight "stunning cuisine within fairytale surroundings" and go on to write:
"Set within 65 acres of magnificent grounds in the beautiful Chiltern Hills, Danesfield is the third house to enjoy the magnificent view here over the Rover Thames since 1664; the present property was built in 1899 as a family home. Constructed of white stone with castellated towers, tall chimneys and raised terraces, it has all the hallmarks of a fairytale castle. The Oak Room Restaurant was redesigned with a light airy feel in 2005 by Anouska Hempel - its bleached wood panelling, soft shades of fawn and latte and top-notch napery give a luxurious yet relaxing impression as you enter. Nothing prepares you, however, for the stunning culinary experience, where new chef Adam Simmonds shows off his fine kitchen pedigree. The modern approach is underpinned by a classical theme to produce top-quality, innovative cooking using high-quality seasonal produce and some serious technical skill. Clean flavours and presentation allow each dish a unique taste experience; take the pan-fried fillet of cod served with parsnip purée, braised salsify, razor clams, curry jelly and goat's cheese and to finish, perhaps a wild strawberry mousse with ice cream, nettle pannacotta, meringue and crystallised nettle leaves. Once you've eaten here, you'll certainly want to repeat the experience."
The Oak Room restaurant is Buckinghamshire Restaurant of the Year in the Good Food Guide 2007.
